REPLACEMENT TWO-STOREY RESTAURENT INTO NEW APARTMENTS.

Where: Maidenhead

The proposals involved the replacement of a two-storey restaurant and associated ancillary accommodation with a new building to provide ten apartments, together with associated parking and amenity provisions.

The design adopts a contemporary approach, but employs traditional materials and references with appropriate proportions to the building form and fenestration. This has been achieved by articulating the building façades to ensure they respond sympathetically to the appearance of the adjacent buildings.

The use of contrasting timber cladding to the external walls of this upper element will also create a discreet visual harmony in the context of the vicinity and the important transitional nature of this site. The use of traditional materials and the modelling of the building will enable the property to make a positive contribution to the nature and pattern of the locality.
